Ladder Rung Roll Forming Machine 40x20mm
Ladder rung roll forming machine 40x20mm makes the cross rungs of cable ladder trays from 0.8-2.5 mm cold-rolled, hot-rolled or galvanized steel at 10-20 m/min. With a compact 15 m line, 12-roller forming on a φ70 mm shaft, inline punching and cutting, it’s a dedicated, low-cost rung specialist for high-volume ladder tray production.
Ladder rung roll forming machine 40x20mm is a dedicated, compact line for producing the cross rungs (cross bars) used in cable ladder trays. It rolls a fixed 40 mm wide × 20 mm high rung profile from 0.8–2.5 mm cold-rolled, hot-rolled or galvanized steel, at a fast 10–20 m/min, with inline punching and cutting built in. At just 15 metres long and 17 kW total power, it is the most space- and energy-efficient machine in the cable tray equipment series — purpose-built for one job and built to do it well.
Not a Tray Line — a Rung Specialist
The other machines in this range form full channel-type cable trays. This one is different: it makes the rungs that bridge the two side rails of a ladder-type cable tray. Because it is dedicated to a single small profile, the whole line is tight, simple and quick to set up — a narrow 78–80 mm strip feeds in, and finished, punched, cut-to-length rungs come out ready to weld or bolt into ladder side rails.
Profile produced: base 40 mm · height 20 mm · small edge 6–8 mm · angle 90° ± 2° · length tolerance ±1 mm
Why a Dedicated Rung Machine Pays Off
The Forming Sequence
A short, efficient flow keeps the line simple and reliable:
Decoiling → infeed → 12-roller forming → punching → cutting → run-out
Forming happens first, then holes are punched and the rung is cut to programmed length — so each piece leaves the line finished and ready to assemble.

Core Modules
Passive Decoiler — 2-tonne capacity, passive (gravity/tension) feed suited to the narrow rung strip.
Roll Forming Section — 12 forming rows with guide positioning on a φ70 mm shaft, driven by an 11 kW main motor; shapes the 40×20 rung profile in a single continuous pass.
Hydraulic Station — multi-bank solenoid valves, relief valve and cooling system; 5.5 kW, 300 L tank, powering inline punching and cutting.
Punch & Cut — inline hole punching followed by cut-to-length, so rungs exit finished and uniform.
Key Brands & Components
Brands listed are for main equipment; auxiliary parts may vary by production batch.
Where the Rungs Go
The 40×20 rungs from this line become the cross bars of ladder-type cable trays — the open, rung-and-rail trays widely used in power plants, petrochemical, oil & gas, mining, tunnels and heavy industrial routing, where ventilation, heat dissipation and heavy cable support matter. Pair this machine with a ladder side-rail line to complete a full cable-ladder production cell.
Quick Answers
What exactly does this machine make?
The rungs (cross bars) of cable ladder trays — a fixed 40 mm × 20 mm profile, not full channel trays.
What thickness can it roll?
0.8 mm to 2.5 mm cold-rolled, hot-rolled or galvanized steel.
How fast is it?
10–20 m/min, including inline punching.
How much space and power does it need?
A compact 15 × 1.5 × 1.6 m footprint and only ~17 kW on a 380V / 50Hz / 3-phase supply.
Can rung length be changed?
Yes — workpiece length is adjustable from 100 to 6000 mm with ±1 mm tolerance.
